It's no longer 1776. It is 2024 and on Friday, July 12 we anchored in a little cove on the northwest corner of Valcour Island. We were far away from Arnold's Battle, thank goodness. It was very peaceful.
It was so peaceful, in fact, that there was only one other boat nearby, a nice Downeast design motor boat, the Tutta Bella, from South Hero.
Of course, no anchorage is complete without a freshwater dip. This was pretty delicious!
As the sun began to set, deer came down to the water's edge in our cove.
Ducks swam about in the now golden waters of the sunset.
Only two more boats joined us in this cove. Funnily enough, the choice of anchorages is a sociological exercise. The next cove to our east was loaded with blobby motorboats. Our cove stayed nearly empty.
And the sun began to set.
We now wait for all that tomorrow might bring!
Cheers,
Brio
