Brio has completed many circles and cycles. Soon she will complete the Downeast Loop. But with what she accomplishes today, she completes the Canal loop of Erie-Oswego-Saint Lawrence-Richelieu-Chambly-Richelieu.
This is the last lock on the Champlain Canal. The next lock is at Troy. It is called the Federal Lock and it will bring Brio back to sea level and tides.
Here's Charlie at the lines in the lock.
As we pass through rural New York.
And we pass a sign where the routes to the Erie and to the Champlain Canal split. We had taken the left-hand fork just five or six weeks before.
Now Brio heads south, retracing her earlier route. She'll go down the Hudson, around Manhattan, up the East River and through Hell Gate to Long Island Sound. From there, she'll head through Fisher's Island Sound and stop at Cuttyhunk for a night.
Then she'll head up Buzzards Bay to Pocasset and the end of the trip.
Thank you for following us.
Cheers,
Brio
